Welcome to Matumaini Mapya.

“Matumaini Mapya” is a Swahili word for “New Hopes.” It is a women and children’s empowerment organization.It is an educational, voluntary, non-political and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Bukoba town, Kagera region Tanzania.

 

Establishment of Matumaini Mapya....

The organization was established in 1997 by a group of twelve persons who were living and
working in Bukoba town. They were touched by incidences of domestic violence in Bukoba
district and a large number of children who were not in school and had no parental care but
were often seen loitering in town streets, begging, scavenging and sometimes employed in
petty businesses.

Matumaini Mapya is a Registered Institution....

Initially, It was registered in 1997and on 14th November, 2006 was issued a Certificate of compliance under the Tanzananian-Governmental Organization Act, 2002. It has registration number 1719. It operates in the whole region of Kagera.

 

Our Mission.

To contribute to efforts of various women and children’s rights stakeholders in building a society in which all human beings, regardless of their status will have equal rights,opportunities,dignity,acceptance and support.

 

 

Our Vision.

 

Matumaini Mapya envisages having a society in which men, women and children enjoy equal rights and opportunities regardless of their sexes or any other status.

Our Objectives.

(i) To stand for and promote women and children’s rights

(ii) To enhance the ability of widows and orphans’ caregivers to engage in income- earning businesses in their respective areas.
